7 tips to get you started at the plantbased diet

Welcome to the world of plantbased eating! 

If you are thinking about starting this lifestyle, from Isauki we want to give you a few tips so you don’t get stuck in a rut. The transition to the plantbased diet and later to veganism (if you consider it), is a process that you don’t need to change overnight. So take it easy and enjoy the process!

Here are some tips to get you started:

1. Start slowly

Start with one meal a day, then gradually increase as you become more familiar with plantbased eating. 0 stress, each person is different and it will take some time to adapt to this new way of life.

2. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

They don’t cost as much and are cheaper than any other ultra-processed snack. In addition, fruits and vegetables are the main foods of the plant-based diet. Try to vary the colors and flavors to get as many nutrients as possible. 

3. Include protein-rich foods

These foods are important to ensure you get enough protein. Try beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, quinoa, tofu, tempeh or seitan are some protein-rich foods to try. You can read our last post to find a good list of these: 

4. Choose whole grain foods

Brown rice, quinoa and oatmeal are some examples of whole foods rich in nutrients, especially fiber. They will taste practically the same and on top of that they help reduce cholesterol and the risk of cardiovascular diseases, 2 for 1.

5. Avoid processed foods

Try to avoid processed foods, such as fast food or any food with added salt and sugar in large quantities. This type of food contains many artificial ingredients that make the taste very pleasant sacrificing the nutritional content.

6. Drink enough fluids

It is important to consume enough fluids to stay hydrated. To make it easier to get that 2 liters of water a day, you can add a few slices of fruit to your water bottle or eat foods that include a lot of water in their preparation to ingest even more without realizing it.


7. Enjoy while you eat!

Plantbased eating is a healthy lifestyle, no pressure or discomfort, food is there to be enjoyed. Try to be flexible without being overwhelmed and enjoy the process, you are already changing the world. Little by little you will get the results you want, good luck Isauker!
